As a Catholic wedding photographer, I feel totally at home when photographing the Mass because it’s what I know and love. But even though I know what to expect throughout the ceremony, every once in a while I get to be surprised by the beautiful personal touches planned for the ceremony. I got to experience a surprise like this at Shannon and Keith’s wedding. After Communion, Shannon’s dad got up to sing an originally-written song to the two of them. Neither Shannon nor Keith knew about the song ahead of their wedding day. It was such a sweet, sweet moment, and there were many tears of love in the church.
All week–even up to the morning of their wedding day–the forecast was showing rain and thunderstorms for the whole day. Despite the less-than-ideal forecast, Shannon never showed any sign of concern. She was totally calm, joyful, and radiant throughout the whole morning as the girls got ready for the big day. When we met up with the guys at the church, Keith was similarly calm and beaming with joy as he anticipated seeing his soon-to-be-wife for the first time. (We ended up being blessed with nothing more than a light sprinkle prior to the ceremony, so we were able to take all the portraits outside!)
Shannon and Keith are two of the best people you could ever meet. They are so full of joy and kindness that when you meet them, you just feel as though they have always been two of your closest friends. They have been through so much together, including dating long-distance through their college years, and after six and a half years, these high school sweethearts are MARRIED!
Shannon and Keith, it has been an absolute joy working with the two of you! I hope the beginning of your marriage has been incredible, and I pray that it is filled with many blessings in the years to come!
