What an amazing day!! My cousin, Sarah, and her fiance, Michael, planned a beautiful fall-themed wedding, with all the gorgeous fall colors, burlap, and lace details. Not only were the colors beautiful, but the details that were incorporated into the day were so special. Sarah’s soon-to-be sister-in-law made her a gorgeous little purse. The fabric for the purse came from Sarah’s stepmom’s wedding dress, and the strap was made from our Grandma Salter’s rosary. The crucifix from that rosary was even sewn into the inside of the purse! It was beautiful! Sarah had our Grandma’s pendent of the Blessed Mother and Child sewn into the inside of her dress. I remember our Grandma wearing that pendent every. single. day. I was so touched to see how Sarah incorporated that into her dress. Sarah also wore our Grandma’s wedding ring, which I got to wear on my own wedding day. I love that it is becoming a tradition for all of us Salter girls to wear our Grandma’s wedding ring on our own wedding days. (Thank you, Aunt Carol, for sharing it with us!)
This was my first wedding as the lead photographer, so I had been checking the weather forecast multiple times a day for over a week… and it was NOT looking good. Rain and thunderstorms were consistently predicted for the whole day. We did have a great backup plan for indoor portraits if the rain didn’t stop, but amazingly, the rain disappeared and the SUN came out just before we started portraits! It even stayed out through the ceremony and the rest of the day! I would say I couldn’t believe it… but I wasn’t surprised. 😉 Our Grandma and Grandpa Salter always pull through for us at the most special family events, so I had no doubt that their prayers for this day would be incredibly effective!! Despite the rain in the morning, Sarah and Michael never showed any concern! They were just excited to be so close to being MARRIED!!
At the reception, Sarah’s dad gave such a great toast. He encouraged Sarah and Michael to always make communication a priority in their relationship, and he also gave some very sweet advice: every day, go out of your way to make each other smile. I love that! Later, Sarah’s mom (my Aunt Roz!) gave her own toast. Everyone expected her to share a poem since she is famous in our family for writing poems for special occasions, but she went even further! She had put together a slide show of Sarah and Michael’s lives growing up and together, and wrote a poem which was put into song. Aunt Roz had her brothers (my Uncle Joe and my dad, Chuck) record the song, which played along the slide show! It was so special!
Sarah and Michael, thank you for trusting me with your wedding photography! I hope you enjoy your photos! And I hope you’re having fun in Orlando!! (So jealous!!)
God bless you two and your marriage! I love you!
