We knew an engagement announcement was coming. Our brother, Jeff, had a custom ring being designed for Katy, so we knew the proposal would be happening soon. However, instead of a typical engagement announcement, we found out that Jeff and Katy were planning to get MARRIED in just over a month! With all the ever-changing restrictions and unknowns surrounding the pandemic, they didn’t know when they’d be able to plan a “normal” wedding. They knew they wanted to be married, so they decided an intimate 4th of July gathering with immediate family would be the perfect way to make that happen!
And they were right! Everything about their celebration really was perfect. The decorations were stunning, the weather was gorgeous (HOT, but pretty!), the food was delicious, and the ceremony was beautiful. Just before the processional, all the family had a chance to say a prayer over their rings. Katy’s grandfather played the guitar and Katy’s siblings did the readings throughout the ceremony. There were tears in many eyes as Jeff and Katy stood before each other. These two were clearly made for each other, and it brought so much joy to everyone there to see them being united in marriage!
To make the day even more special, Katy even got to wear a family wedding gown. Her mother AND her grandmother wore that same dress. This gown has now been at the start of three generations of marriage. Isn’t that amazing?!
I had a blast spending all that time with our family and getting to meet Katy’s family! It was an adventure taking photos with my own kiddos running around, but we had so much help! I have to give a huge thank you to Bob-Bob, Grandpa Jim, Michael, Anna, Sara, and everyone else for helping out with our munchkins! Evelyn and Henry had so much fun!! At the end of the night, there was a bonfire where Katy and Jeff roasted s’mores as the local 4th of July fireworks display began. It was such a fun way to end a perfect evening!
Congratulations, Jeff and Katy, and may God abundantly bless your marriage!! We love you!!!
